RAISE is Just Managing

RAISE runs Just Managing , an ESF funded project giving forty-eight VCO managers in the South East the opportunity and support to gain a management qualification.

Just Managing addresses some of the barriers to management training amongst VCOs including:

• cost;
• time;
• finding an appropriate and accredited course.

The VCO managers on the course:

• get a free place on a Post Graduate Certificate in the Management of Voluntary Organisations;
• use distance/open learning;
• are supported by subregional Action Learning Sets.

Action Learning Sets are an innovative and dynamic approach to learning. The Sets meet regularly to discuss issues arising from individual experience and much of the Set's time is spent exploring new strategies for managing and affecting change.

RAISE works in partnership with Southampton University who are the awarding body for the Postgraduate Certificate.

Over 300 VCOs registered their interest in the course, confirming that it is a vital issue for the sector. Just Managing will be the first of many projects for RAISE in the field of learning and development.
