A decision will be made on the location of increased runway capacity for the South-East. Aspirational regenerators may desire a brand new airport at Cliffe in the heart ofthe Thames Gateway, but clever money is on Stansted. A disaster,as far as geographical redistribution of resources is concerned, would be an expansion of Heathrow - airports are the biggest economic driver there is, and another runway there would furtheroverheat west London and the Thames Valley, while the Thames Gateway area would continue to flag.
