Do you live in the North East/South East /South West? Could you help improve Englands mostdeprived neighbourhoods? If you have experience of living or working in an area of deprivation we could be looking for you.Through the Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy the Governments aim is that over the next ten totwenty years, no one wil l be seriously deprived because of where they live . Community involvement is at the heart of the strategy and the Government is determined that local residents must be able to play a full and effective role in neighbourhood renewal .The Community Forum was established in 2001 to advise the NRU and provide a national focus for community involvement.The existing 21 members of the Forum are committed to improving the poorest neighbourhoods.This could be your chance to join them and ensure the Forum reflects the experience of residentsacross the country as a whole. You will need to be constructively critical in your approach torenewal and have the passion to say what you think.The key objectives of Forum members are to:Act as a sounding board for the NRU providing a community perspective on Governmentprogrammes;Develop new ideas to help make Government policies more effective; andHelp promote the aims of neighbourhood renewal, increasing peoples understanding.The commitment would be around 12 days per year. An honorarium and expenses will be pai d .The Government is committed to the principle of public appointments based on merit, withindependent assessment, openness and transparency of process.In particular it is committed to address under-representation of young people, people from ethnic minorities and people with disabilities who have the required skills and experience.
