Summary:

Government produced the ‘Sustainable Communities Plan’ (Feb 2003). It set up the Regional Housing Board, tasked with preparing a Regional Housing Strategy. The Board has 7 directors and 7 non executive members. The Board produced a Strategy for 2004/6 and is working on the Strategy for 2006/9. It’s started with a ‘Green Paper’ setting out key issues including affordability, key workers, rural housing, homelessness, equality and skills and training (including skills for housing professionals working with communities and for communities working with housing professionals).
