Job Description:

The regional agenda is moving quickly; following the 2002 White Paper Your Region Your Choice, regional bodies across the public policy arena are co-operating ever more closely in order to deliver better, more co-ordinated governance to South East England. The South East England Regional Assembly is the representative voice of the UKs largest region. A partnership of all the regions local authorities with social, environmental and economic stakeholders, we are designated by the Government as the regional chamber for the South East.As the Regional Planning Body the larger part of the Assemblys resources are devoted to the urgent, complex and rapidly expanding spatial planning agenda for the region. However our core business also includes regional advocacy and accountability, and a strong and broad policy capability is vital if we are to perform these roles effectively.A key aspect of the Assemblys work, which the Government has recently strengthened and funded, is to hold the regional development agency to account. We are also keen to assist other regional bodies to connect to common regional priorities and expose their plans to public debate.
