Job Description:

The Scarman TrustOperations Manager – South East EnglandReporting to:Regional DirectorLocation:Community Base, BrightonHours of work:37.5Job level & Salary:£25,000 (pay rise pending – Trustee review of all salaries currently underway)Working Environment:Mainly office based but with some travel across the region and to Central Services in LondonPurpose/Role:To manage all aspects of the internal operations of the south east region, supporting the Regional Director in the running of the Region.Key Areas of Responsibility:Finance·Assist the Regional Director in the preparation of the annual budget and to periodically review / update the budget.·Manage / monitor the regional budget.·Liaise with Central Services to ensure accurate and timely management of accounts.·Manage the Finance Worker and all financial related processes in the region·Liaise with Central Services to review and improve all regional financial systems.·Manage all grant award processes.·Provision of monitoring information according to requirements.Planning·Support the Regional Director in updating the business plan·Monitor performance against targets in the business planManage Regional Office·Provide line management and support to all staff in the region·Implement all national HR policies and procedures·Manage contractors·Deal with all personnel issues including staff selection and recruitment·Oversee all aspects of general office administration.Internal Communications·Develop and implement appropriate internal communications systems·Monitor and improve these systems as the organization develops to ensure their effectivenessOrganizational Development·Make recommendations to the Regional Director with regard to any necessary changes to improve the organizational structure·Streamline existing systems & processes.·Working with Central Services develop and implement systems, policies and procedures that are necessary to improve the effective operating of the regional office.ITEnsure IT systems used by all staff in the region comply with the Trust’s Common Operating Environment·Liaise with the IT Director in Central Services to ensure all databases, intranet and web sites are up to date and fully operational. Special Condition: Occasional evening and weekend work may be requiredWorking Relationships: Reporting to the Regional Director, the post holder will also be required to work closely with all members of regional team, senior managers of other teams in the region, Central Services Team and other Regional Teams.

Salary Details:

£25,000 (pay rise pending – Trustee review of all salaries currently underway)

Person SpecificationKnowledge / ExperienceEssential A minimum of 5 years in a management role.Experience of being part of / managing a diverse team.Experience of organisational change and development.Knowledge of team dynamics / team building.Knowledge of HR and effective staff development and support.Knowledge of drawing up and implementing effective systems, policies and procedures.Desirable Appropriate management experienceKnowledge of the Voluntary and community sector.SkillsEssential Excellent interpersonal, communication skills being confident with a wide range of people from different backgrounds.Excellent management and supervisory skills.Preparing and managing budgetsSound administrative skills, well organised and computer literateDesirable Preparation and monitoring of business plansCharacteristicsEssentialSupportive and enabling, able to motivate self and othersProactive, able to take the initiative.A team player with a good sense of humour.
