Volunteer Co-ordinator, Wokingham District, 15 hours per week

Job Description:
|
To be the primary point of contact for volunteers, organisations which might supply them and groups which engage them across Wokingham District.To promote volunteering by speaking to local groups, attendance at District events, involvement with local committees, use of information stands and interaction with the local press.To work with potential volunteers to find placements which suit their individual and unique personalities, skills and experience, and to follow up with them to assess the progress and success of the placement.To work closely with partner organisations such as Council for Voluntary Action, Community Service Volunteers, the Voluntary Sector Forum and district-wide BME groups.To manage the Do-It database, downloading as well as uploading local volunteering opportunities.To deputise on an occasional basis for the Volunteer Centre manager.

Salary Details:

NJC scale 6 point 25 (£19656 pro rata from 1/4/05) plus reasonable travel expenses to outside venues

Person Description:
|
Must be resourceful, self-motivated and self-sufficient; able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.Good communication skills, written, verbal and on the telephone, to deal with a wide range of clients, local groups and organisations, local councillors, council officers and so on.Experience of interviewing, strong organisational skills and ability to manage own paperwork (admin support may be available from a suitable volunteer).Must be a car driver with own transport.Word processing and data entry experience desirable.
