Wired communities - savage new report criticises VCO attitudes to ICT - Posted on 06 November, 2002 by Jeremy Barnes (RAISE)

This report says clearly that agencies have not spent enough time or money developing ICT within their organisations.  Agencies are still operating on a shoestring budget and members of staff have too many pressing needs that do not allow the development of ICT.  There is a lack of good, affordable advice available to users and, where it is available, agencies are not maximising their use of these facilities.

There should be a minimum level of ICT that agencies should aim to achieve, this should include email to desktop, a network, Internet access, backups, databases and good technical support and advice for maintaining and developing their ICT.

John Olufawo (LASA)
