Patterns of funding for voluntary and community organisations are changing. The new Formula Funding Share allocates government money to local authorities according to the value of housing stock, attracting it northwards, out of the South East. Squeezed between diminishing government subsidy and resistance to council tax hikes, local authorities are desperate for new, cheap ways to deliver services. If you really can do this and prove that you can, the money will follow.RAISE commissioned Rickard Matthewman to find out what’s happening to the funding of the Region’s voluntary and community organisations. His findings are challenging and exciting.
