The State of the Sector Panel - invitation
You may be aware that the Home Secretary, in his recent speech to the NCVO Conference, announced the establishment of a major new research initiative, the State of the Sector Panel.Over the next three years (2003/04 to 2005/06) the Home Office's Research, Development & Statistics Directorate will survey a panel of several thousand organisations, which reflect the range of organisations in the voluntary and community sector in England. The research has two aims. The first is to monitor progress in increasing voluntary and community sector activity as set out in Public Service Agreement 8 ("to increase voluntary and community sector activity, including increasing community participation, by 5% by 2006"). The second is to explore additional matters of concern to voluntary and community organisations - for example, the implementation of the Compact; support for infrastructure organisations and information technology; and funding. The Home Office is making an open invitation to organisations - or all sizes, working in all regions, providing all kinds of services and serving all sorts of people - to register their interest in becoming members of the Panel. From those who register it will select members of the Panel and their alternates in early June. The first survey will take place in mid-June.Members of the Panel will be expected to return one postal survey (for more complex financial information) and participate in up to four telephone surveys (of between 15 and 20 minutes in length) per year over the next three years.
