Young Enterprise Advisor

Project Description

Young Enterprise's Company Programme gives thousands of students each year the opportunity to prepare for this working life through the experience of running their own company, supported by volunteer advisers from business. Volunteer as a Company Programme Adviser, use your business knowledge and skills to channel the enthusiasm of young people into running a successful business.Company Programme Business Advisers also have the opportunity to work outside of their discipline, and Young Enterprise is a proven way to hone and develop key management skills directly related to the day to day management of any organisation.

Estimated Duration

2 hours a week, plus ad hoc weekend events

Estimated Personnel Required

Unlimited. All advisors will be required to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau check (free of charge).

Special Skills Required

There is no previous experience or expert knowledge required of a volunteer, other than their own experience of work and business and their enthusiasm. Young Enterprise Volunteers act as role models from the world of work to young people who have, in many cases, volunteered to become involved.

Young Enterprise is a national education charity with a mission: to inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through enterprise. The scheme operates throughout the UK as well as many parts of Europe and beyond. There are six discrete programmes each for a different age-group from 5 to 25+. These are run on a "learning by doing" principle. It includes a programme that is specifically designed for those who experience difficulties with learning and / or have disabilities. Over 11,000 volunteers from business in the UK provide the necessary support to operate the programmes that are managed by a framework of boards covering regions or areas.
