Solent Mind has grown rapidly over the last decade, and is now a leading provider of mental health services in Southampton and across Hampshire. We have an excellent reputation in providing social inclusion, vocational, home support, and advocacy services. We now want to build on this track record and use our skills and versatility in these and other settings where we can add our distinctive value to local mental health services. The Business Development Manager will be a new post designed to raise our profile amongst prospective users and commissioners, seek out potential partners, and take the lead in tendering and funding bids. 1.Main responsibilities1.1.To work up business plans and budgets which anticipate and respond to government agendas and emerging best practice in mental health provision, and which seek to secure both traditional and new forms of income1.2.Proactively to engage with commissioners, funders, and other customers including service users, promoting Solent Mind as a potential provider of social inclusion services; employment-related services; home support services; advocacy, advice and information; research, training, and consultancy services; and other therapeutic services 1.3.To be an organisational resource, gathering, maintaining and disseminating information about potential markets, partners, projects, income streams, procurement approaches, commissioning strategies and funding and tendering opportunities, briefing managers, staff, the executive and service users as appropriate on development issues and our possible responses1.4.To identify and pursue opportunities to work in partnership with other organisations who would add value to our bids and tenders.1.5.To take the lead in compiling and presenting funding bids and tenders, engaging the help and expertise of colleagues and service users to produce high-class proposals in the formats required by funders and commissioners1.6.To coordinate fundraising activities amongst projects, providing advice and expertise as appropriate, offering a business development resource for existing projects1.7.To maintain and disseminate to Heads of Service marketing and business intelligence relating to potential partners and competitors, including their strengths and selling points, their pricing policies, tendering successes FOR FULL DETAILS OF JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION PLEASE SEE FULL APPLICATION PACK, AVAILABLE FROM THE JOB VACANCIES PAGE OF OUR WEBSITE - www.solentmind.org.uk.

£26,187- £29,010 (pay increase pending, more for exceptional candidate)
