Social Enterprise

A social or community enterprise is a business with social objectives, putting profits back into the business or the community and not into the pockets of the owners or shareholders.

Social enterprise is an emerging agenda for the voluntary/community sector (VCS) as funding becomes more limited and there is a need for organisations to generate income. It is key that we embrace it and understand it so that we can maximise the opportunities available. Even if you do not think it is for you, then it is worth exploring so that you can knowledgably opt out.

South East Social Enterprise Strategy

This was launched by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) in 2005. The vision for the strategy is "to create a region where social enterprise can grow and thrive and play its full part in contributing to the sustainable development of the South East".
